Sunset Point Details
Got hoodoos? You'll see plenty of these unique rock formations from Sunset Point, which has perhaps the best hoodoo views in Bryce Canyon National Park. The overlook sits directly above the Silent City, a tightly packed maze of hoodoos and fins, with the Thor's Hammer formation just below. In addition to enjoying the views -- especially magical at sunset, when the hoodoos seem to glow in hues of orange and red -- visitors can walk the paved section of the Rim Trail between Sunset and Sunrise points. Inspiration Point is also nearby. Or, hike down into the canyon via the Navajo Loop Trail, which begins and ends at Sunset Point. Also be on the lookout for the many birds that frequent this area, including bug-hunting swallows, Clark's Nutcrackers and Steller's Jays amid the pine trees, and ravens and hawks soaring above the canyon. There are restrooms and drinking fountains near the parking area at Sunset Point.
