This easy, scenic, and level loop follows a ridge above a marsh that is a habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife. Your hike begins in a forest of lodgepole pines, then passes Polecat Creek before reentering a mature conifer forest. At trail's end you can choose to continue your hike on the Flagg Canyon Trail. The trailhead is located 16 miles north of Colter Bay Junction; turn left at the Flagg Ranch/Grassy Lake Road sign, take the first right, and park in the large parking lot near the horse corral and information station.
