Gateway Arch is committed to making its iconic monument and historic grounds welcoming and accessible to all visitors, regardless of ability. For those with mobility challenges, the park offers accessible drop-off zones on Memorial Drive, Chestnut Street, Market Street, and 4th Street. The surrounding park grounds feature wide, paved walkways with gradual slopes, perfect for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers. Inside the Gateway Arch Visitor Center and Museum, free wheelchairs-including extra-wide models-are available on a first-come, first-served basis. While the tram ride to the top of the Arch is not wheelchair accessible, a live video feed provides an alternate way to enjoy the spectacular views from above. For guests with sensory or communication needs, the museum offers assistive listening devices, tactile exhibits, and closed captioning on all theater presentations. Visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing can request sign language interpretation for ranger programs with two weeks' notice, and those with visual impairments can access audio description devices upon request. Service animals are welcome in all areas of the park, including the museum and Arch grounds, as long as they remain leashed or harnessed unless those devices interfere with their tasks. In addition, U.S. citizens or permanent residents with permanent disabilities may be eligible for the Interagency Access Pass, which grants free lifetime entry to Gateway Arch and other national parks. With thoughtful infrastructure and inclusive resources, Gateway Arch ensures everyone has the opportunity to experience its powerful stories and awe-inspiring structure.
