The closest gas stations are in Alamogordo, about 15 miles east of the park, where travelers will find well-known brands like Shell, Chevron, and Murphy Express. If coming from the west, the last refueling stop is in Las Cruces, approximately 50 miles away. Since there are no gas stations within the park, visitors should fill up beforehand, especially if planning an extended visit or traveling deeper into the surrounding desert. Electric vehicle (EV) drivers should plan their charging stops in advance. Alamogordo has a few Level 2 chargers at hotels and businesses, while Tesla Superchargers are available in both Alamogordo and Las Cruces. However, White Sands itself does not have EV charging stations, making pre-trip charging crucial. Given the park's remote nature and limited cell service, ensuring your vehicle is ready for the journey helps avoid unexpected delays.
