Ship Harbor Trail Details
Ship Harbor provides a stunning look at the Maine coast. Winding through evergreens, climbing up granite ledges, peering into tide pools, and sliding through mudflats, the flat, easy path is a great family adventure, especially for curious children. According to legend, the low tides of Ship Harbor once trapped an 18th century British ship that, after trying to anchor, found itself stuck in the mud! While visitors can no longer see the ship's remains, there are plenty of birds and seals to see diving in the surf below the low ledges surrounding the harbor. The beginning of the trail is wheelchair accessible. Trailhead: off of Route 102A, 2 miles from Seawall Campground.
