Old Tioga Road (T10) Details

At this point a narrow, steep and winding road branches off the main road. This is the Old Tioga Road, or the Old Tioga Mine Road. The road has been retained "as is" to demonstrate the roads of the old west. A primitive campground is located approximately four miles down the road. The interpretive sign at the start of the road reads: "This is the last remaining section of the Old Tioga Mine Road. Completed in 1893. Over it machinery and supplies were freighted in horse-drawn wagons to the Tioga mine. Located at the crest of the range near Tioga Pass. It is a typical mountain road - narrow, winding, sometimes steep, and little changed today." Roadside marker: T10
