Glacial Moraine (V25) Details

Towards the end of the Ice Age, a glacier advanced from the present day area of Mirror Lake and pushed up the ridge of rocks located at this point. As it retreated, this ridge remained behind. This hill was once known as Ski Hill and was where skiing first began in Yosemite. The tradition of skiing continues in Yosemite at the Yosemite Ski and Snowboard Area located off Glacier Point Road. To learn more about the glaciers in Yosemite National Park, view the Yosemite Nature Notes video episode on YouTube. Yosemite Nature Notes is produced by the Yosemite National Park and the Yosemite Conservancy.
