Wolf Island National Wildlife Refuge Details

Wolf Island National Wilderness Reserve includes two islands in southeastern Georgia, Egg Island and Little Egg Island. The refuge hosts rare migrating birds throughout all seasons and also nursing homes for sea turtles. The refuge is 5,126 acres, and more nearly 80 percent of the area is saltwater marsh. The saltwaters within the refuge are popular for recreational activities like boating and fishing. It is an important stopover site for the Red Knot and Piping Plover, two threatened or endangered shorebirds.
