The San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge is located where the Tuolumne, Stanislaus and San Joaquin rivers meet in the San Joaquin Valley. The 7,000-acre refuge is home to diverse wildlife species, like the protected Aleutian cackling goose and riparian brush rabbit, due in part to a wide mix of habitats. Specified areas, like the four-mile Pelican Nature Trail and Beckwith Road, provide year-round opportunities to view wildlife in wetlands, restored riparian woodlands, and oak trees.
