Rock Pool Swimming Hole Details

A short 1.2-mile hike through Malibu Creek State Park has a rewarding feature at the end. Here, you will find this pristine swimming hole surrounded by towering volcanic rocks and thick shrubs of foliage. If this area looks familiar, that is because it was used as a backdrop for the 1968 blockbuster Planet of the Apes. Despite being surrounded by bluffs, cliff jumping into the water is not advised as the base of the pool is dotted with giant rocks. You should also consider bringing water shoes (in addition to your umbrella and towel) as the rocks can be extremely slippery.
