Amboy Crater Details
Although it has not erupted in over 10,000 years, this extinct volcano is still an imposing sight in the Mojave Desert. Its crater is 1,508-feet in diameter and boasts amazing views of the Mojave National Preserve, Marble Mountains, and Bristol Dry Lake from its rim. To reach the peak, you can hike the Western Cone Trail, which is a 4-mile round trip journey. Due to the heat and nearly boiling temperatures during the summer, it is recommended to only make the trek in the spring or fall.
