San Jacinto Wildlife Area Details
This area was established in 1979 specifically to preserve the natural habitat of many wetland and riparian creatures. It is one of Southern Californias most beloved birding destinations and a designated Important Bird Area, as it supports some of the last remaining flocks of White-faced Ibis, Long-billed Curlews, and Sandhill Cranes. More than 75% of Californias raptor species can also be found in the park, which is the highest concentration of anywhere in North America. The most common types are Red-tailed Hawks and American Kestrels, although Golden Eagles, White-tailed Kites, and Northern Harriers have also been observed.
