Point Pinos Lighthouse Details

Dating back to 1855, this historic lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse on the West Coast. However, it also attracts avid birdwatchers who come to admire the 335 bird species that live on the property as well. Seabirds, shorebirds, and gulls can be commonly spotted along the coast throughout the year, while Black Oystercatchers, Sanderlings, and Black-bellied Plovers are usually here from October to April. The cypress trees around the lighthouse are also home to many land birds, including Tropical Kingbirds, Bobolinks, and Swamp Sparrows.
