This moderately challenging long-distance trail travels 38.5 miles across the entire Catalina Island. Most travelers start in Avalon and end in Two Harbors, although it can also be done in reverse. You will trek up to Silver Peak and climb Avalon Canyon, making a nearly 10,000-foot gain in elevation over the course of 4 days. The terrain is rough and not all routes are easily accessible, so sturdy hiking boots and trekking poles are generally recommended. Besides the scenic views, you also might be lucky to see American Bison, Bald Eagles, and mule deer while you are hiking.
