Tahoe Rim Trail Details
Long-distance hikers have inevitably heard of this two-week trek around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe. It traverses two different mountain ranges (Sierra and Carson) and navigates through dense forests, around babbling creeks, and across dozens of sparkling alpine lakes. And while the entire 170-mile journey is best left for experienced hikers, beginners or mid-level trekkers can tackle one of the 8 segments around the loop instead. Barker Pass to Tahoe City and Tahoe Meadows to Spooner Summit are two intermediate routes that can be done in a day.
