The 4.8-mile hike to this scenic lookout is only one obstacle that you will have to face when making this journey. At the end of the trail, you will need to walk up 170 steps to the top of the lookout tower. Even though your legs might be shaking and your toes might be blistered, it is worth the last push of energy to see the sweeping views from the top. While you are standing 8,587-feet above ground, you will see the Upper and Lower Sardine Lakes as well as the Tahoe National Forest. Soak in the views before climbing down the staircase and back towards the parking lot where you started.
