Mount Diablo Details

There are several different trailheads up this mountain, although the route through Mitchell Canyon is arguably the most popular. It starts off relatively easy as you walk past Mitchell Creek, although it slowly starts to ascend as it gains 1,200-feet over the next 2 miles. Enjoy the slight incline while you can, because the trail soon makes steep strides. Once you reach the summit, the surrounding views of towering peaks (Prospectors Gap, North Peak, Mount Olympia, Eagle Peak, Mount Zion, and Black Point) as well as the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, Suisun Bay, and Montezuma Hills windmills are visible.
