Fern Canyon Details
This out and back trail is just a little over 3 miles. Located inside Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, the trail takes you along the base of a small canyon that is covered in a thick blanket of lush green ferns. There are seven types of ferns here some grow on rocks, some dangle down from the 50-foot cliffs, and others crawl up the trunks of the trees. The canyon has been the backdrop for numerous TV shows and movies, including The Lost World: Jurassic Park. While you will not see any dinosaurs tromping through the park, you will see other creatures like Roosevelt Elk or northern red-legged frogs.
