Naulakha (Rudyard Kipling House) Details

This historic site was once the home of Rudyard Kipling, an English poet and novelist famous for such stories as The Jungle Book, The Seven Seas, and Captains Courageous. The home was built by Kipling himself in 1893. And although he only lived in it for 13 years, it is still one of the only structures associated with the iconic author. The home is an eclectic mix of South Asian Indian bungalow and traditional American Shingle architecture. The property was sold in 1992 to Landmark Trust, which restored it to its original condition as a public museum.
