Barres Rock of Ages Quarry Details
There is something humbling about staring into the worlds largest deep-hole granite quarry. Piles and piles of white and gray granite blocks stack up over 600-feet tall, although more than half of it is located underground beneath a pool of opaque green water. The granite here (known as Barre granite) is used for numerous products, especially headstones, memorials, and mausoleums. The Rock of Ages Corporation has been mining granite on this property since 1885.
