On a warm summer day, this shaded, forested trail is a great option for those who still want to spend time outdoors. The entire trail is just 1.4-miles long and not particularly difficult, so it is doable for those with pets or children. During your hike, you will walk by the pond (after which the park was named) and even along the Ottaqueche River. The ending point is the Ottauquechee Dam and Waterfalls, although a bit further down the trail takes you to a viewpoint over the Quechee Gorge.
