Named after the large marble and slate quarries that once dotted the slopes, this scenic byway is 30 miles of pure beauty. Making your way from Manchester to Poultney, you will travel through open pastures, historic villages, and plenty of state parks. It is worth stopping for an afternoon of boating or swimming at either Lake Saint Catherine or Lake Bomoseen. Other bodies of water also include the Mettawee and Poultry Rivers, which offer plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and kayaking as well.
