Old Fall River Road Details

From Horseshoe Park, scenic Old Fall River Road runs 9 miles to the 11,796-foot Fall River Pass. This was the first road built to access the high country of Rocky Mountain National Park, and unlike Trail Ridge Road, it includes some challenging steep sections, with some grades of 16 percent. The posted speed limit is 15 miles per hour -- a limit you'd be wise to observe, since the gravel road is narrow, curved, and has no guard rails. Vehicles with trailers and vehicles greater than 25 feet in length are not permitted on this road.
