Alburgh Dunes State Park Details
Situated on the southern tip of the Alburgh Tongue Peninsula, this 625-acre park is home to one of the largest beaches in the state. The golden sand dunes overlook Lake Champlain and provide a protective habitat for native foliage, specifically Champlain beach grass and low-growing beach-pea. The park also contains a natural wetland, which is the largest black spruce bog in the region. In addition to wildlife viewing (keep an eye out for turkeys), visitors can also spend the day swimming, fishing, or boating in the lake. The waters along the shore are relatively calm and shallow, which also makes this a great destination for a family outing. There is also a small trail linking the beach to the wetlands that pedestrians or cyclists can use.
