Six miles off the coast in the Atlantic Oceans sits an archipelago of nine small islands. Three of the islands are located in New Hampshire (Lunging, Seavey, Star, and White Islands), while the other five are part of the neighboring state of Maine. Star Island is the largest island on the New Hampshire side and houses a conference center, hotel, and 150-year-old chapel. White Island is known is also known for its historic structure a lighthouse that dates back to the early 1800s. Next to it is Seavey Island, and during low tide, the two are connected by a land bridge. Lunging Island is privately owned, although it was once used as a trading post for cod fishermen.
