The slow-moving Baker River under this historic bridge is a popular place in summer to go swimming. There are small beaches on both sides of the riverbank, so there is always a spot to lay out your towel even if it is a busy weekend (which is key because this location always seems to be crowded). The original bridge was built in 1850, although it was repaired four different times over the last few decades to prevent it from collapsing into the river. However, the structure you see now is completely new, as the original bridge was destroyed in a fire in 1993.
