Flowing for 136 miles across New Hampshire and Maine, this river has some of the clearest, cleanest water for swimming (after all, it supplies the drinking water to 35 different towns in New England). There are plenty of places along the river where you can go swimming. One of the most popular spots is along the Swift River tributary in between Crawford Notch and Bartlett. If those places are too crowded, then check out Hussey Field, Westons Beach, or Chocorua Lake.
