This 8.2 out and back trail is the most popular way to reach the peak, as it takes you from the visitor center through Cutler River and up the mountain in the shortest amount of time. The first 2.3-miles of the trail are through the trees, although you will soon reach the sloped ledges of Tuckerman Ravine. The rest of the journey is a steep incline through a series of switchbacks. While it may be challenging for some hikers, the scenic views as you make the ascent keep you motivated until the peak.
