Ahern State Park Details
Overlooking the shore of Lake Winnisquam, this small but scenic state park is considered to have one of the best beaches in New Hampshire. With over 3,500-feet of golden sand, you will have no problem finding a private spot to hang out for the day. Before it became a state park, this land was part of the Laconia State School, which operated from 1903 until 1991. Once it was acquired by the state, it opened in 1994 under the name, Governors State Park until it was renamed in 1998. Most of the activity is centered around the lake, with boating, fishing, and swimming being a few of the most popular activities. It is also possible to go hiking and cycling around the park and perimeter of the lake.
