Located in the northern part of the state, this 38,000-acre reservoir has plenty of places where you can go swimming. In fact, there are over 20 designated swim areas along the 680 miles of shoreline. River Forks Park near Gainesville has a spacious beach with picnic pavilions, campsites, volleyball courts, and playgrounds. Or you can go to Little Hall Park, which is a great local hangout for families and BBQ cook-outs. Lanier Park is also a popular choice for swimmers, as it has a wide stretch of white beach as well as boat launches and walking trails.
