Tybee Island Details

Over 210 birds have been seen flying around the coastal marshes around this barrier island. On any normal day, you might see native species like osprey, great blue herons, great egrets, and yellow-crowned night herons. During the winter, the attention turns to waterfowl, with many scoters, buffleheads, and loons stopping here during their migration. North Beach has some of the best birding opportunities on the island, although you will have a better chance of seeing warblers and other songbirds inland. You can also visit the Natural Heritage Preserve on Little Tybee Island to see these creatures in a more natural setting.
