This barrier island on the coast is the perfect mix of nature and resort life. Although many people come here for the warm beaches and lush golf courses, there are also plenty of birding opportunities available for wildlife enthusiasts too, as the island is on the Atlantic Migratory Flyway. Head to the Amphitheater Area to see egrets, vultures, and night herons, or make your way to St. Andrews Beach Park to admire great crested flycatchers and great horned owls. It is also worth stopping at the Bird Sanctuary at Jekyll Island Campground. Norther parulas and yellow-throated warblers are just a few of the species you will find nestled in the trees.
