Silver Comet Trail Details

Due to the flat pavement and serene surroundings, this is a very popular spot for cyclists, hikers, runners, and in-line skaters. The entire trail is over 60 miles long and can take you right from the Atlanta suburbs all the way to the Alabama border. This trail is a converted railway line that traveled along this route from 1947 to 1969. After several months of poor ticket sales, the line was eventually discontinued and transformed into a multi-use trail in the late 1990s. You do not have the cycle the entire way to see some of the best sites. The first 20 miles pack a huge punch in terms of scenic beauty. You will cross bridges, peddle through rocky outcroppings, and even breeze past tree-line streets, all in the first hour of the ride.
