Lake Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge was originally constructed during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps after the Little Ocmulgee River was diverted to become a 256-acre lake. Oaks and pines are abundant in the area and along the 2.6 mile Oak Ridge Trail. Because of the sandy hills throughout the park, the lake has a sandy white beach that is a leading visitor attraction along with the 18-hole Wallace Adams Golf Course.
