If you are looking for a short drive where you can explore a bit of Georgia history, then spend an hour on this 21-mile route from Clinton to Hillsboro. During the 17th and 18th-centuries, this area was inhabited by Creek Indians. More recently, General Sherman made his way through his area as he leads his soldiers on the legendary March to the Sea. Although this is a relatively short route, you can also make a few pit stops along the way. The Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge and the Ocmulgee River are both perfect for a lunch break or afternoon hike. You can also visit the Jarrell Plantation to see 20 different agricultural buildings from the 1800s and 1900s.
