Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site Details
Take a step back in time while you explore a slice of Illinois state history at this living history farm and log cabin. This was the home of Abraham Lincolns father and stepmother, Thomas and Sarah Bush Lincoln, although Lincoln owned part of the property after his fathers death in 1851. After being elected as President, Lincoln traveled back to the log home one last time to visit his stepmother. This was his last trip to Illinois before he was assassinated in 1865. The cabin that stands there today is a replica. The original structure was sent to the World Columbian Exposition in 1893, and unfortunately, got lost in transit and never made it back to the property. It Is not open to the public, and during your visit, you WIll be able to walk through a reconstructed model of the log cabin, Stephen Sargent home, and the Reuben Moore Home which was where Lincoln said his goodbyes to Sarah.
