Most history buffs are aware of Jean Baptiste Point Du Sables legacy as the first non-indigenous settler in Chicago. He moved to this area in the 1780s and resided near the banks of the Colorado River with his wife and family. Although his simple 22-by-40-foot log cabin no longer exists, this monument is believed to be where he once lived. The plaque is located on Pioneer Court on Michigan Avenue.
