Cascade Falls Details

Out of all the waterfalls in Matthiessen State Park, this one has to be the most stunning. The streams from Matthiessen Lake and Vermillion River have carved a path through the sandstone canyons, allowing the water to cascade down 45-feet into a pool that sits at the bottom of the rocks. It is best seen in spring or after heavy rainfall, as it will likely be dried up by June or July. However, the 100-foot canyon walls that surround the falls are equally as impressive, so it is still worth seeing even if you are traveling in summer.
