This beach can be accessed through the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. It tends to be more off-the-beaten-path than other Chicago city beaches, which is great if you are looking for a quiet spot to sunbathe or watch the sunset. The beach was named after Sam Leone, a World War II Veteran who worked as a lifeguard here before getting hired by the Chicago Park Department. In addition to the wide stretch of sand, this beach also has a playground, athletic field, and kayak launches.
