Tunnel Hill State Trail Details

This trail is like a living museum there is something new and exciting to discover around each turn. As you travel this 55-mile route from Cypress to Eldorado, you will encounter a mix-mash of scenery, strip mines, and even a few ghost towns. The first part of the trail travels along the same route of the Cairo and Vincennes Railroad through marshland and cypress tree groves. After cycling past the ghost town of Forman, you will enter a 543-foot tunnel (which is completely dark so make sure to have a flashlight with you). After emerging back into the real world, you will head through the woods of the Shawnee National Forest but ending up in Eldorado.
