Rock Island Trail Details
This trail traces the route of the former Chicago, Rock Island, and Peoria Railroad that operated for over 130 years. It connects Peoria in the north to Toulon in the south via a 26-mile path that winds through the farmland and small-town villages. Most of the trail is through grassland prairies, although it becomes more forested as you leave the town of Wyoming. But besides the scenic landscapes, there are a few notable points of interest as well. Stop by the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Depot to check out the local railroad museum or hang out on the trestle bridge that crosses over Spoon River for fantastic water views.
