North Branch Bicycle Trail Details
Cycling from busy city streets to tranquil wooded forests in just a matter of minutes when you embark down this 22-mile cycling trail. After leaving the paved path from Gompers Park in Chicago, you will say goodbye to the city as you enter the Skokie Lagoons nature preserve, a wild, unpaved paradise that feels like you’ve been transported to an entirely different world. You might even have a good chance of spotting a few wild deer (but try not to pet or feed them no matter how friendly they seem). Your final stop on your journey is at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe. It is a great destination to hop off and wander around, admiring the 385-acres of plants, flowers, and exotic foliage.
