The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument features one of the world's richest collections from the Eocene Epoch. The visitor center features exhibits about the park's geology and fossils, including examples of fossilized insects, spiders, snails, and plants, while a stroll along the mile-long Petrified Forest Walk introduces the park's most-visible fossils: the stumps of giant redwoods up to 14 feet wide. Hiking trails meander into the 5,998-acre park's meadows and ponderosa pine forests.
