Paint Mines Interpretive Park Details
This colorful natural wonder looks like it belongs on mars rather than El Paso County! This sprawling 750-acre park contains clay spires and formations that have oxidized over hundreds of years, transforming them into shades of pinks, yellows, oranges, and purples. It is even believed that Native American tribes once came here to use these clay colors as war paint. Although marveling at the unique colors and formations is interesting enough, you can also wander along the 3.4-mile loop trail that encircles the park.
