Chico Basin Ranch Details
This 90,000-acre property is more than just a working cattle ranch. It also happens to be a wildlife preserve and a bird banding station for the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory to help monitor and identify migratory birds. Because the majority of the land is shortgrass prairie, this ranch is the ideal place for spotting birds in their natural surroundings. In total, over 330 different types of birds have been sited on the property, including hummingbirds, cuckoos, flycatchers, and warblers. In addition to the birding opportunities, the ranch also operates a horse sanctuary to rehabilitate injured or sick horses. You can also take horseback riding lessons where you will learn how to round up and herd cows.
