Wellington Lake Details

Perched over 8,000-feet above sea level in the Pike National Forest is this pristine lake just waiting to be explored. Although it is privately owned, it is open year-round to the public for numerous outdoor activities like camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and swimming. Because it is located under an hour from Denver, it can be quite crowded with visitors, which makes it more difficult to enjoy the natural surroundings in peace. You can also come during the winter (it is a spectacular sight to see the lake covered in a sheet of snow), although you obviously will not be able to swim.
