Cache La Poudre River

This river is one of the main bodies of water in Fort Collins, which makes it a popular spot for tubers and swimmers in summer. The water has varying levels of depth although sections near Legacy Park and Lee Martinez Park are deep enough to go swimming. You will even find a small sandy beach near College and Shields where you can hang out. During the spring run-off season, the rapids can be very fast and potentially dangerous, which means you should avoid swimming during this time. Not to mention, it is as cold as snow, so you will probably be freezing unless you dive in during a hot summer day.
