Big Dominguez Canyon Details

If you are near Grand Junction looking for a place to beat the heat, then make your way to this scenic swimming hole. Supplied by a trickling waterfall off of Gunnison River, this place is located inside a massive red canyon with jagged cliffs surrounding you on all sides. Because the rocks can get quite hot in the summer, they heat up the pools to a pleasant temperature that is perfect for relaxing. The only way to reach this pool is by hiking the Bridgeport Trailhead in the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area. The entire trek is around 8-miles, although you will also have the chance to visit a handful of other swimming holes along the way.
