Devil's Head National Recreation Trail Details

NOTE: As of June 2021, this area is closed due to construction. It is expected to reopen on December 1, 2021. The Devil's Head National Recreation Trail is an easy, and family-friendly (including canine family members) spot perfect for picnics and light exercise. The trail gains under 1,000 feet of elevation from the trailhead to the fire lookout tower at the end. The fire lookout tower sits at just under 10,000 feet above sea level, and--by its nature--offers commanding views of the Front Range. Visitors looking for a relaxing hike will enjoy the mostly shaded trail and benches along the way. The Devil's Head lookout is on the National Register of historic places, and the trail is a very popular destination--especially in the summer.
