Barr National Recreation Trail Details
Barr National Recreation Trail takes you to one of the most iconic mountains in America--Pike's Peak. The trail is technical, rampant with switchbacks, and gains nearly 4,000 feet of elevation in the first handful of miles. The trail starts by climbing Mount Manitou, and steepens as you climb to No-Name Creek. The next milestone from here is Barr Camp, which is more than halfway to the summit. It's a steady climb to A-Frame, and this section can be technical at times as you traverse large boulders and steep-sided pathways. There are 3 miles of trail to the summit left, with signs letting hikers know the remaining mileage along the way. The summit is more than 14,000 feet above sea level, and legend has it that--on a clear day--you can see 5 states from the peak.
